The Jesus Storybook Bible: No Wi-Fi Required

The Jesus Storybook Bible: No Wi-Fi Required

I absolutely love my smart phone. With a swipe of my finger, I can find out how many steps I’ve taken today, share a picture of what I am doing on Instagram, or find out what my friends are reading. Just the other night at dinner, my family and I were debating about how long the FIFA Women’s World Cup has been around. Thanks to my smart phone and instant access to the Internet, I discovered that the inaugural tournament was played in 1991.

Only a few years ago, we would have never imagined we would have this much information literally at our finger tips, let alone, be able to carry it around with us.

Unfortunately there are a few drawbacks to this. With the ability to access information so easily, I have committed less to memory. I am embarrassed to say I don’t know the telephone numbers of my loved ones. This is rarely a problem because I have their contact in my phone, on my computer, and I am friends with them on Facebook. I didn’t realize this was a problem until Hurricane Sandy hit our area and we lost electricity for 12 days. I couldn’t access the internet or charge my phone.

Guess what? I learned you can’t always rely on technology to keep you connected to vital information.

If I am not careful, the same thing can happen to me when it comes to the Word of God. There are so many wonderful Bible apps and devotionals available online that sometimes I forget to keep it in the one place it’s meant to be: my heart.

I wonder if you feel the same way too?

Reading the Bible strengthens our prayer life and enables us to pray God’s Word. It fills our minds with spiritual Truths, such as who we are in Christ and how much we are loved by Him.

It does the same for our children too. When kids are not old enough to read on their own, we can read story Bibles to them. As kids listen to the Word of God, in a way they can understand, their personal relationship with God grows as they get to know His heart and eventually trust Him based on His Word.

The wonderful thing about kids’ reading habits is that they love to hear their favorite stories over and over again. There is no better way to get God’s Word in your heart! The Jesus Storybook Bible is perfect for this very thing. It’s filled with the kind of stories you’ll never get tired of reading. Written by New York Times bestselling author Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jago, children learn that Jesus is at the center of God’s great story of salvation. The Jesus Storybook Bible has been so popular that it is now available in a beautiful clothbound gift edition, which make it an excellent Easter basket stuffer for any child under the age of 12

As more and more of God’s Word is planted in our children’s hearts it will be easier and easier for them to access His wisdom, peace, and strength in times of need. Faith will replace fear and hope will eclipse despair.

As we continually read God’s word, whether in a grown-up Bible or The Jesus Storybook Bible, it will be planted deep down in our hearts. Then, we will be able it take it with us wherever we go and access it at any time. No electricity or wi-fi required.
