Veterans Day: If My People

Veterans Day: If My People

Lord,

You are the Rock and Strength of this nation. You are the only One who can deliver us from our enemies. We trust in You and pray humbly for Your guidance and direction for this great nation. Give us wisdom to make the right choices. Help us live in such a way that Your name will be honored in all things. May You forever be praised.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies. — Psalm 18:2-3

The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. — Exodus 15:2

If and when our nation fully turns to God, He will provide for us strength, wisdom, and purpose. He will bless us even as we deal with the consequences of our sinful straying, and He will bless us by redeeming some of our many missteps. Each day we should praise Him and thank Him for His faithfulness, His grace, and for His ability to make all things new. May we as a nation daily seek Him and His direction for our good and His glory.

God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect. — 2 Samuel 22:33

Father,

We exalt our praise and adoration to You all throughout the day and night! May we never forget that You are merciful and gracious, and that You, our Creator, receive our devotion and prayers with an attentive, listening ear. Give us eyes to see the splendor of Your holiness and ears to hear the majesty of Your voice as You lead us to holy and righteous living.

Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud,
And He shall hear my voice. — Psalm 55:17

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up. — Psalm 5:3

Every day, throughout each day, we have an open invitation from God to go to Him in prayer. And our heavenly Father has promised to hear our prayers. In light of that promise, we would be wise to earnestly seek God’s direction on a daily basis. God has made it very clear that He will hear our prayers of confession on behalf of our country, as well as prayers for His direction for our lives. Choosing to pray brings great benefits that we as a nation desperately need.
