Looking For God

Looking For God

Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing comes from the Lord; we cannot speak to you either bad or good.” — Genesis 24:50

Avid golfers regularly hear golf ’s great refrain when a player makes a great shot or finishes well: “That will keep you coming back.” In a world increasingly bent on cynicism, it’s nice that golf has such a positive adage.

These days, there is no greater remedy for negative, negative, negative than to fix our eyes on what God is still doing in our time.

Laban and Bethuel must have had such God-fixed eyes when Abraham’s servant suddenly walked on the scene and suggested that Bethuel’s daughter, Rebekah, was just right for Abraham’s son Isaac. Talk about far-fetched stories! But Laban and Bethuel had learned to look for God. Immediately they said, “This is from the Lord.”

We must think differently than our colleagues of the world. Men and women of Christ must look first for the influence of God.

Tip: Risk reward is in your favor only if you can gain more shots than you can lose.
