May the Faith Be with You

May the Faith Be with You

He’s the only one who can spread out the heavens.
He alone can walk on the waves of the ocean.
He made the Big Dipper and Orion.
He created the Pleiades and the southern stars.
He does wonderful things that can’t be understood.
He does miracles that can’t even be counted.
Job 9:8-10 (NIRV)

My parents took me to the planetarium for the first time when I was five years old. After we found our seats the overhead lights dimmed and small dots appeared on the ceiling. The room was quiet, and then all of a sudden, a deep voice came over the speakers. Shock turned to wonder as I asked my parents, “Is that God?” The other people in the room giggled as my mom tried to shush me. For the rest of the presentation I sat captivated as the stars and planets danced across the sky. That was the first of many trips to the planetarium and the beginning of my fascination with the mysterious and beautiful world beyond our earth.

As a child, I loved learning that God created the sun, moon, and stars on the fourth day. I was amazed to learn that a light year is the distance covered by light in a single year, which is equal to 5.88 trillion miles, and that the Milky Way is around 100,00 lights years wide.

The universe that God created goes far beyond what we can imagine.

If your little one loves all things space exploration and intergalactic design like I did then they’ll find these facts interesting too:

• The gravity of the Sun and Moon creates our high and low tides.
• If you flew on a plane to Pluto, the flight would take more than 800 years!
• The Sun is over 300,000 times larger than earth.
• There are more stars in our universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth. That’s more than a billion trillion!
• Because of lower gravity, a person who weighs 150 pounds on Earth would weigh 351 lbs. on Jupiter, 57 lbs. on Mars and 9 lbs. on Pluto.

I am in awe of the vastness and the uniqueness of God’s creation. Aren’t you?

Choosing a Bible your child loves is a great way to make engaging with scripture fun. So, if your kids are ages 6-10 and love space, the May the Faith Be with You Holy Bible will make a perfect gift for them. Not only does it have 24 full-colored pages that cover topics like: What Were the Parables of Jesus?, Fruit of the Spirit, Psalms 23, but it’s also written in the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV). That means its verses contain short sentences and simple words that make it easy for my kids to read and understand. Also, the simple text makes scripture memory a breeze.

If your little star-gazer is not ready for a big kid Bible, he or she would love May the Faith Be With You: Bedtime Prayers. It’s a colorful, space-themed book with simple prayers for little ones 4-8 years old to read with their parents. The illustrations glow in the dark, which make it ideal for bedtime reading.

What I learned about God and His creation as a child laid the foundation for the awe and wonder I still have for who God is. Your child can have the same footing as they dig into God’s Word with these books!
