The angel that announced the Savior told the shepherds not to fear but to open their eyes and look for the good things God was doing for them and for the whole world — things that would bring great joy to everyone.
The object of Christianity is not to sin less but to glorify God more. It is not to stop ourselves from doing the bad things we really want to do but to find ourselves craving to do what pleases God.
As we celebrate the hope of our Savior during this Christmas season, we are encouraged to glorify God by caring for the ones we love, to reach out and find ourselves longing to please God by serving others. During this season, show the love of Christ. It may be the best gift anyone could receive.
Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord?” — Luke 2:10–11
We should live… looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. — Titus 2:12–13
