Boys Need Dads

Fathers play such an important role in the lives of children. I’m so thankful for the father that my boys have. Dads are special to all their kids, but there is something about a little boy needing a dad. Why?

* Boys need guidance on how to become a man.
* Fathers build confidence.
* Fathers communicate and discipline differently.
* Fathers prepare children for the real world.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. — Psalm 103:13

Did you know that boys who grow up with dads are less likely to be violent? They are affirmed in their masculinity.

I’m blessed to have a husband who is dedicated to raising his boys in the word of God. He’s dedicated to encourage them, provide for them, and love them in a way that only a dad can do. My three sons have the best example of what a Godly, wise, hard-working, man looks like… and I’m forever grateful for his presence in their lives.

My boys wanted to chime in on this post and let their Dad know why he’s important to him. I asked the questions, “Why are you thankful for Dad” and “Why is Daddy so great?”

Their answers…

Jackson: “I’m thankful for Dad because he always wrestles with us. He is fun to hang out with.”

Knox: “Daddy is so awesome and he’s really cool.”

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” – Ephesians 6:4

Your Turn

What a blessing a godly father truly is! We give thanks this weekend for all fathers! Please share in the comments your favorite memories of how your dads or other male role models taught you to embrace a relationship with Christ. If you’re the first generation in your family to know and love the Lord and don’t have that foundation of faith from a father figure, let us know how you are trying to provide a spiritual legacy for your children.
