Corn Mazes

Corn Mazes

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”John 14:6

Nothing says “fall in the South” quite like getting lost in a good old-fashioned corn maze. Farmers go through a lot of planning and work to create these intricately designed labyrinths. What begins as lighthearted fall fun for the partakers can, however, produce a little panic after a certain point. The numerous and seemingly identical paths will, as the sun begins to set, bring to mind every scary movie that ever involved a cornfield. The most important thing to remember about a corn maze is this: there is only one way out.

When Jesus told the disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them after He went away, Thomas became concerned.

We do not know where You are going, he said. How can we know the way? John 14:5

How confusing it must have been for Thomas. After all, there weren’t any maps to this place Jesus was going. Jesus informed Thomas that there was only one way, and it was through Him.

He is the way. He is the truth. He is life. No one is able to come to the Father except through Jesus, the Son.

The world wants it to work differently. “You do you” is the battle cry of the day. People are being deceived into believing that whatever makes them happy is what is best for them. Still others are told that there are many ways to Heaven, which stands in direct opposition to what Scripture teaches. There are many people today who are lost and searching for the way out, and we hold the map.

Just as in a proper corn maze, there is only one way to freedom, and that is through Jesus. It is the job of those of us who have discovered it to lead others there as well. Let’s seek out the stragglers, wave to those still wandering, and help guide them all home. Let’s meet them on their dead-end trail, if necessary, and walk with them to the right path. May no one come into our lives and leave without hearing about the one and only way out.

I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.Psalm 69:30
