Fathers play a huge role in our lives. A good dad… well, there’s just no way to quantify the enormous value he brings to his family and those he influences with his love, coaching, teaching, and modeling being a good man!
But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. — Luke 15:20
I’m blessed to say that while he wasn’t perfect, my father whom I called “Poppy” was a really good man. I have so many great memories of him preaching, goofing around, cheering his head off at my brother’s and then my son’s football games, travelling around the country and the world together, hitting the beach and going body surfing, going out to late-night movies just the two of us, him on the floor playing Barbies with my daughters, him shouting at the TV during USC games, and especially laughing that great big, wonderful laugh. He was a good dad and granddad and I’m so thankful to God for him.
