Free Easter Nests Recipe from FaithGirlz

My daughter, Zoe, and I love to cook together, especially around the holidays! We recently tried the Crispy Easter Nests recipe from the FaithGirlz cookbook Food, Faith & Fun, and I’m thrilled today to give you this free recipe, published here with permission from our friends at FaithGirlz & Zonderkidz.

Cooking in the kitchen with your kids is a wonderful activity anytime of the year! When in the kitchen with your child you’re bonding and building sweet memories while you create something together!

I know it’s a challenge to carve out that time to teach your kids. It’s much faster and easier to do it yourself, but it’s way more valuable to spend that time teaching them.

Time in the kitchen is just as important as time at the table and you’re giving your kids basic cooking skills that they can take with them when they leave home.

Plus, if any of your children are picky eaters you may find that they are more likely to try something if they made it themselves. Cooking together is rewarding and, I’ve found, it usually helps unravel a negative attitude. I can vouch for that with my daughter! Food puts us both in a better mood!

The FaithGirlz cookbook Food, Faith & Fun reminds you that your body is a temple and feeding it good food is something God wants us to do because He wants us to take care of our bodies. I loved reading that simple reminder.

I never thought that we could bring Jesus to our cooking time, but we can and it’s pretty simple!

Did you know that in the Bible there are many mentions of food for celebration?

On this mighty mountain the Lord almighty will prepare a feast for the rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-the best of meats and the finest of wines. —Isaiah 25:6

We’ve created two of the recipes out of the book. The first one we made was the cheesy cauliflower recipe. Needless to say, everyone ate their veggies that night!

The other recipe we made was the beautiful (and delicious) Crispy Easter Nest.

The Crispy Easter Nest recipe took us less than 15 minutes from start to finish. It’s such an easy and perfect recipe for an Easter celebration, and a great way to use up all those leftover jelly beans and chocolate eggs!

The FaithGirlz Easter Nests

Crispy Easter Nests Recipe

7 ounce jar of Marshmallow cream
¼ cup of peanut butter
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup candy coated chocolates
2 cups of rice cereal
jelly beans or chocolate eggs

Directions:

Combine the marshmallow cream, peanut butter and melted butter. Add chocolate and cereal. Drop by 1/3 cup onto greased cookie sheet. With buttered hands form into nests. Fill nests with jelly beans or chocolate eggs. Let harden before eating.

My End Result

Did you see their beautiful cookbook photo above? I’m thinking my version of the Easter Nests recipe might have turned out a little more like the picture from the cookbook if I had used marshmallow creme (which I was out of) instead of melted marshmallows – LOL! I might have also omitted the candy-coated chocolates from the rice and marshmallow mixture, and just used the chocolates and jelly beans in the nest. This is not a Pinterest-perfect photo, but they still tasted delicious! I hope you enjoy making this easy Easter Nest recipe as much as Zoe and I did!
