I’m So Glad You Were Born

I’m So Glad You Were Born

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.Psalm 139:14

When my daughter Hayden was born, I knew in an instant that my life had changed forever. I looked at her tiny face and felt the overwhelming truth that she was a dream come true — a living, breathing reminder of God’s goodness. From that moment on, I wanted her to know without a doubt that she was deeply loved and that her life had incredible purpose.

This is the heart behind my children’s book I’m So Glad You Were Born.  It’s more than just a personal sentiment — it’s a truth rooted in Scripture. God, the Creator of the universe, made each of us intentionally. There are no accidents in His design.

  • From the moment you were conceived, God had a plan for your life (Jeremiah 1:5). He rejoices over you with singing (Zephaniah 3:17) and delights in the unique way He crafted you.

Growing up, my mother often said to me on my birthday, “I’m so glad you were born.” Those words stuck with me — not just because they came from her, but because they reflected God’s own heart. Our Heavenly Father looks at us with joy and says, “I’m so glad I made you.”

This is the message I want every person to know — whether you are a child, a parent, a grandparent, or a friend:

You are wanted. You are cherished. You are here on purpose. God has given you a life that can shine light into the world in ways no one else can.

I’ve had big dreams since I was a little girl in South Carolina, and knowing that someone believed in me — and more importantly, that God believed in me — gave me the courage to pursue them. That same truth is for you. God is not just glad you were born — He created you for “good works, which He prepared in advance for you to do” (Ephesians 2:10).

So today, pause and thank God for the blessings in your life. Let His words of love sink deep into your heart. And then, pass it on — tell someone else you’re glad they were born. Speak life. Speak hope. Speak joy. You never know how God might use your words to remind others of His love.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making me with care, intention, and love. Thank You that my life has meaning and that You are glad I’m here. Help me to live in the joy of being Your creation and to share that joy with others. Put someone on my heart today who needs to be reminded of Your love and purpose for them. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Reflection Question:

Who in your life needs to hear, “I’m so glad you were born”? How can you remind them of God’s love for them this week?

Your Turn

Do you know how precious you are? It’s easy to slip into believing that we don’t matter because the world is constantly sending us the wrong messages. But, to God, who is the only Voice that matters, you are incredibly valuable! He made you and is so glad that you were born! ~ Devotionals Daily
