Did you miss our live chat with Nancy Rue, author of So Not Okay? We sat down with Nancy to talk about bullying, Mean Girls, and how we can teach tween girls to stand up in defense of those who fall victim to bullying. Nancy challenged girls to love others as Jesus loves.

So Not Okay is an anti-bullying movement for tween girls – and their parents and educators – based on the principles that Jesus teaches in the Gospels for how to treat other people. So Not Okay is the first book in the MEAN GIRL MAKEOVER trilogy and encourages young women to find the POWER to carry out those principles from the Gospel.
Nancy Rue is the best-selling author of more than 100 books for teens, tweens, and adults, two of which have won Christy Awards. Nancy is also a popular speaker and radio guest due to her expertise in tween, teen, and young women’s issues.
Through the trilogy, Mean Girl Makeover, Nancy Rue focuses on a different character’s point of view: the bully, the victim, and the bystander.
During the So Not Okay event, Nancy addressed:
- The breakdown of bullying
- What NOT to say as a parent when the topic of bullying comes up
- How to help when bullying leads to depression in kids
- When it’s ever OK to approach a bully’s parents
- How to regain power
- Common misconceptions when it comes to speaking to bullies
- How our experience with bullies as parents directly impacts our children
Nancy encouraged us to have a continuing conversation around this topic, and after listening to this author chat, I know every parent will want to do just that!
