Joshua had commanded the army, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!” — Joshua 6:10
When God brought Joshua and the army of Israel to the city of Jericho, their cause seemed hopeless.
The large walls surrounding the city made entrance to the fortress look impossible. But under the careful instruction of Joshua, the people were challenged to walk around the city for seven days without saying a word. Can you imagine how foolish the army looked to the people of Jericho? Who goes to battle without saying a word? Who confronts an enemy in silence? Joshua understood how influential words are and refused to let his army speak words that would give the enemy an advantage. After circling the city thirteen times in silence, he gave the order: the nation of Israel shouted and the walls of the city fell flat.
What words have you confessed over your life today?
Are they words God would speak over you?
Every word is a seed. God has given you a mind to envision your future and words to bring those thoughts into fruition. To think one way and speak another is to be double-minded.
Words have creative power. Today make a point to speak positive words over your future.
Ask for supernatural favor. Declare ideas, increase, breakthroughs, and opportunity over your life. Most importantly, believe you will receive what you request. Don’t draw back in fear. You are blessed. You are equipped. You will succeed and not fail.
Father, give me discernment about when to speak and when to hold my thoughts in peace. In times of confrontation I will stay calm and remain in faith.

Your Turn
Words have power. God spoke the universe into existence. Silence has power, too. Today, let’s pray about when we should speak and when we need to let our silence speak just as Joshua commanded the Israelites. Come share your thoughts with us on our blog. We want to hear from you! ~ Devotionals Daily
