The spirit of liberty that founded this nation must be extended to every soul within it. ~ Attributed to Lydia Maria Child
We pray to God to know His passion, death, and resurrection—which come from the goodness of God. We pray to God for the strength that comes from His Cross—which also comes from the goodness of God. We pray to God with all the help of the saints who have gone before us—which, again, comes from the goodness of God.
All of the strength that may come through prayer comes from the goodness of God, for He is the goodness of everything.
For the highest form of prayer is to the goodness of God. It comes down to us to meet our humblest needs.
It gives life to our souls and makes them live and grow in grace and virtue. It is near in nature and swift in grace, for it is the same grace which our souls seek and always will.
~ Julian of Norwich
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your goodness and grace to me and to this nation. Amen.

Quiet Inspiration
Thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education. ~ Theodore Roosevelt
The Scriptures say without hesitation that God’s Spirit lives in us, gives us life, speaks to us in silence, inspires us, and that it is so much a part of us that we are united with the Lord in spirit. This is basic Christian teaching.
The Spirit of God is the soul of our soul! We are blind if we think that we are alone in the interior sanctuary. God is actually more present in this place than we are. We are constantly inspired, but we suppress the inspiration.
- God is always speaking to us, but the external noise of the world and the internal churning of our passions confuse us.
We can’t hear Him speaking.
Everything around us needs to be silent, and we must be quiet within. We need to focus our entire being to hear His soft whisper of a voice. The only ones who hear it are those who listen to nothing else.
~ Adapted from François Fénelon
Prayer
Lord, I am quiet right now in prayer. Before I turn away from this page, I pause to listen to You. Amen.
