Like a bad tooth and an unsteady foot is confidence in a faithless man in time of trouble. — Proverbs 25:19 NASB
Some people have what are called “summer” teeth: some are here, some are there. One thing is certain, an aching tooth will get your undivided attention, no matter how busy you are. The Bible compares this throbbing pain to an unfaithful friend. Have you ever turned to a person you believed to be your friend in a time of trouble and been disappointed? There’s no pain like that.
It is often said that prosperity brings friends, while adversity tests them. A true friend will help you through tough situations or circumstances. A true friend can be trusted to keep what you say private. A true friend is there for you when you truly need them.
But no matter how good a real friend can be, eventually that person will fail you, often through no fault of their own. We’re only human, as they say. To place our trust in man instead of God is the biggest mistake any of us can make.
God alone is worthy of our complete trust and confidence.
Be true to your teeth or they will be false to you.
Faith Check
Too many people today have straight teeth and crooked morals. Trust in God and take your problems to Him first. And if you have good friends, thank Him for blessing you with them. A true friend is precious and rare. Hang onto good friends like you hang onto your teeth.
