You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. — 1 Peter 2:9-10
You are the girl for the job. Because He says so. ~ Jess
Can you believe we’re in our final week of You Are the Girl for the Job? This week we’re going to put the exclamation point on an amazing study. Are you as grateful as I am for Jess and the scriptures we’ve digested? This has come at such a time in my own life that it can only be considered a gift from the Lord… The one I needed to remind me that I have good work to do, so I need to speak back against doubt, stand on God’s truths, and press forward in joy!
Are you with me?
Because, listen, all of us are in the same boat. We’ve sinned. We sin. We are sinners. Those of us who are Jesus-followers have a new mission. We’re anointed, ordained, and poised just where we should be to do the work set before us to glorify God in the highest and make Him famous wherever and however we can.
Our histories don’t define us. In fact, God will use them to tell a story of His redemption, grace, and kindness. That’s part of what makes the Word so beautiful — it’s a love story about how God loves His people and uses those who flop but keep loving Him and turning full-face toward Him.
I love the failures of the Bible. They give me great hope! Because, as we talked about in week three, God loves fueling comeback stories. What better way to showcase His glory?!
The Bible is filled with stained-glass people who looked into the unknown with fear and bewilderment. They weren’t perfect. They muddled, they failed at times, they walked through messy circumstances toward the King of glory limping, but continuing!
Fear. Doubt. Confusion… We’re in good company. ~ Jess
God wants to shower grace and kindness upon us! He’s looking for the eager heart, not the proud who do whatever they think on their own. He loves the repenter, the start-over, the can-I-get-a-mulligan believer who steps forward when He calls and is willing to go!
The starting line to abundant mission is right where you’re at. God consistently meets ordinary people in their everyday rhythms to accomplish supernatural and eternity-shifting tasks. ~ Jess
What has God called you to? Where are you right now? What impassions you? What are you interest in? What has always intrigued you?
Do you feel sidelined by your story? Your history? I get that.
Have you held back because you don’t know that you have anything to offer?
You’re not off the field because you’re “too messed up” for Jesus! And, you don’t need to be equipped to triumph — HE will equip you. Take a look at what is in your hand, where you are right now, where you’re beginning, who He’s placed in your path and go for it.
Do you know who leads AA meetings? Alcoholics in recovery.
Guess who coaches boxers? Somebody who knows what it’s like to be knocked out, on the mat, bloody, and woozy. And can help others get back up.
Who do people go to when their child is born with a disability? They seek out people who’ve raised kids with disabilities and who found joy and beauty.
Begin now. Five years from now, you’ll be so glad you did!
I had a massage recently (Ooohhmygosh, so heavenly! Go get one right now!) and I thought I heard the masseuse mumbling quietly under her breath. Curious, I asked her if she was praying and she said, “Well, I always pray silently but do you want me to pray for you out loud?” Well, you don’t have to ask me twice! I said, “Yes ma’am!” Little did I know that this beauty was brandishing spiritual firepower! She stepped into that moment with Holy Spirit strength and boldness that I didn’t expect from a timid, whispery Filipina woman and she roared a prayer that blessed me from head to toe! Knocked. My. Socks. Off. It was pure fire! When she was done, I told her, “YOU are the girl for this job! Rose, you have to start praying out loud over people! God has ordained you for this!” She didn’t know that what she was doing was in any way special much less powerful! But, you better believe I have Rose’s number and I’m going to keep encouraging her to pray like the Bible-thumping, holy dancing, foot stomping Jesus-freak she is! I love her to pieces!
You are the girl for the job and the job is this: Living the abundant life God has crafted for you with intention, passion, and willingness to do whatever He has asked you to with a fine-tune focus on His glory. ~ Jess
The same is true for you and me. Let’s press forward in joy and whatever the Lord asks of us, do it! To His glory!
God knows you. He sees you. He loves you more than you could imagine. You are the girl for the job. Because He says so. ~ Jess

Prayer for the Week
Oh, we love You, Jesus! Thank You for reminding us that it’s not about us; it’s about You! You empower us, You equip us, You sustain us, You fill us with Your Spirit, You bless us with Your grace. Show us what You would have us do and give us the boldness and the tools we need to do it! We’re women on a mission, God, and we want to be on fire for you and set the world around us on that same fire! Help us, Jesus. In Your holy name. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
