You’ll Get Through This Week 6 — God Can Use This for Good

Welcome to our final lesson of the You’ll Get Through This Online Bible Study with Max Lucado. This week we have a question for you:

Are you down in Egypt right now?

We, your OBS team, get it. We’ve all been there. I’ve been there.

The hardest thing to believe when you’re in the pit is that God can use this situation for good. That seems ludicrous. Impossible. Foolish.

Where is the goodness of God when your business is shutting its doors?

When you’re losing your house?

When someone you love gets a serious illness? A mortal sickness?

When you’ve been (or feeling) utterly alone for way too long?

When relationships are deteriorating or exploding.

When you miscarry… Again.

When you see no hope. No silver lining. No light at the end of the tunnel. When it gets dark enough that dying feels like the better alternative.

How can those tragedies and traumas possibly ever be used for good? HOW?!

The Lord knows. We don’t.

Gently, friend, I want to say to you… Go to Jesus. Tell Him. Pour your heart out to Him. Trust Him even if it’s just the tiniest bit for right now. A mustard seed. Lean on Him. Hurl yourself upon Him.

Come to Me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28

A big brother will help you get through things. Everybody needs a big brother. ~ Max

Wait for the redemption. It’s coming.

When all seems lost, it’s not lost to Jesus. When failure takes you down, He gets down there with you showing the way out. When others plan, and scheme, and plot against you to cause you harm, to take you out… Jesus can work with that cruelty to create blessing beyond belief. Even when death knocks on your door, it doesn’t win against Jesus.

We’d be foolish to think that evil always wins the day. The Bible vibrates with the steady drumbeat of faith. ~ Max

God will use this for good. He will. You can’t see it. I can’t see it. You can’t imagine it. Neither can I. But, He will. It’s His wheelhouse!

Keep your eyes on Him. And, wait for it.

Prayer for the Week

Jesus, we love You. Thank You that You are the ultimate Joseph. Thank You that You can take every mess we get into and every pit we get thrown into and use it for good. Thank You that we don’t have to pretend that what has happened to us is good because it’s not. But, You are in the redemption business and You will work it for good. Thank You. We love You, Lord. Amen.
