Meet the "real americans"―average people―who work in coffee shops, schools, factories, offices, and fields to make a better life for themselves and their children. They still believe in traditional values―such as love of God, hard work, honesty, concern for others, and pride in country―that have made the United States the greatest nation in the world. Gary Bauer met them all during his campaign for the Republican nomination for president in 1999. Doing Things Right is a "love letter for our country" that pays tribute to these solid citizens. Their stories will rekindle your faith in the "american dream" and the bedrock values on which "the land of the free and the home of the brave" was founded.
At the same time, Doing Things Right is a wake-up call for all who love America. Traditional valules are being pushed aside by special-interest groups and even by government regulations in a society that is drifting away from God and becoming more and more secular. Bauer declares that he will continue to fight for the affirmation of family values in our national life―and he wants you to get involved with him in this important battle.
"This is an upbeat and inspiring look at America's Heartland through the keen eyes of my friend, Gary Bauer. It will renew your faith in our nation." ―Charles W. Colson, Chairman, Prison Fellowship Ministries
"Gary Bauer sees clearly what is right with America―and what is wrong with our great nation. Doing Things Right looks back to the principles of the founders in order to bring clarity to some of the most controversial and important issues of our day." ―William Bennett, Best-selling author, educator, and speaker
"Gary Bauer is both a gifted thinker and a gifted writer. He makes vital issues readable. Every Christian should read his experiences as a Christian in government. I find this a most enjoyable read and you will be a better person for reading this book!" ―Tim LaHaye, Best-selling author and minister
"In this excellent book, readers will meet the real people who make this country the land of the free and the home of the brave. Gary Bauer, once a presidential hopeful, has articulated in compassionate fashion the issues that both unite us and divide us. Here is a rediscovery of the glory of America in the most unlikely of places and a hopeful agenda for the 21st century." ―Dr. Bill Bright, Founder and Chairman of Campus Crusade for Christ
