In [Jesus Christ] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. — John 1:4-5
Look outside at night, and you might still see the twinkling of Christmas lights. Let them remind you today that on your street, in your circles, in your life, your opportunities to shine God’s light into the darkness are countless, and the needs are desperate. Yet no darkness is so dark that it can’t be broken by Christ.
This became so real to me when I visited the prison camp in Auschwitz. I realized that crimes against God’s children are no less evil today than they were during World War II, and perpetrators are no less cruel. Evil exists throughout the world now — not just in history.
I also know that same darkness will be with us until Jesus returns with new heavens and a new earth (Revelation 21:1). But He isn’t here yet, so you and I have the joy of shining His light to dispel all the darkness around us. Together, with God’s help, let’s shine brightly into one life after another spreading God’s great joy. Let’s share His grace, His love, and His hope. Until every person we meet is living the light with us.
Thank You, Lord, that Your light in me always overcomes the darkness and brings light to others.
